The Witch

So I finally completed ‘The Witch’   I’m really happy with her hair and plan to make a few more for the Etsy store.  Sorry but I’ve decided to keep this one for my Halloween decorations…yeah right, who are we kidding?!  We all know she is going to be up all year round, HA!  Anyhoo, now introducing The Witch:

Free Pattern – Cauldron

MATERIALS:

• Hook – G [4.0 mm]
• Yarn – Black worsted weight yarn
• Yarn needle
• Stitch marker

GAUGE:

• Not important with this project.
• Cauldron works up to 2″ tall x 3″ wide

STITCH ABBREVIATIONS:

• SC – Single crochet
• Dec – Decrease [*Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop* twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook]
• SlSt – Slip Stitch

NOTES:

• Rounds are worked in continuous spirals; do not join. Do not turn work at the end of each round.
• For best results, be sure to crochet your stitches tightly.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cauldron
R1 – SC 6 in magic circle
R2 – *2 SC in each st* 6 times [12 sts]
R3 – *2 SC in next st, SC in next st* 6 times [18 sts]
R4 – *2 SC in next st, SC in next 2 sts* 6 times [24 sts]
R5 – In back loops *2 SC in next st, SC in next 3 sts* 6 times [30 sts]
R6 – In both loops SC around [30 sts]
R7 – *2 SC in next st, SC in next 4 sts* 6 times [36 sts]
R8 – SC around [36 sts]
R9 – *2 SC in next st, SC in next 5 sts* 6 times [42 sts]
R10-R12 – SC around [42 sts]
R13 – *Dec, SC in next 5 sts* 6 times [36 sts]
R14 – *Dec, SC in next 4 sts* 6 times [30 sts]
R15 – *Dec, SC in next 3 sts* 6 times [24 sts]
R16 – SC around [24 stc]
R17 – In front loops *2 SC in next st, SC in next 3 sts* 6 times [30 sts]
R18 – In both loops, SC around [30 sts]
R19 – *2 SC in next st, SC in next 4 sts* 6 times [36 sts]
R20-R21 – SC around [36 sts]

Fasten off.  Weave in ends using yarn needle.  Roll down top of cauldron.

Handles
R1 – SC 9 turn
R2 – Skip next st, SlSt in 8 sts

Fasten off, leaving tail for sewing.

Sew handles to opposite ends of cauldron.  Weave in all ends.

New Tags & Updates

Ordered some new tags for my creations.  I LOVE THEM!  They came out better than I expected, which is ALWAYS  a good thing

I’m working on a couple of new updates for the site, that should be up within this week.  Firstly, I will have pictures of the completed “The Witch” design.  Accompanying this will be a new crochet pattern on how to make her cauldron.  I really want to try out the new video camera my husband got me for my birthday so I may even go as far as making a video tutorial for the pattern (but we’ll see how that goes). 

I’ve also gotten a request for a zombie bunny.  Can’t wait to get started on that one!  The person who requested it said she wants it to hang from her mic stand…how fun!!

Witchy Woman, See How High She Flies

Although it may seem that thing have been a little quite on this end, I’ve actually been pretty busy on some new CultGrrrl Creations designs.  I’ve just about completed my latest, “The Witch”.  She is taking a little longer than expected because I still have to figure out how I want to attach her hair but her base is done.  She will also come with a nice witches hat, broom and cauldron for her accessories.  I may even make a few “eye of newts” and a “book of spells” to go with her but we’ll see how that comes along   I should have a few new pictures to post within the next couple of days.
